Ingredients
- 2c all purpose flour
- 1tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 4tbsp shortening
- 2tbsp salted butter - melted
- 7/8c water - warm or hot
Instructions
- Combine all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl
- Kneed in the shortening
- Add melting butter and water into the mix and use hands to combine until the dough comes together
- Kneed dough until all the flour is incorporated and there are no large lumps.
- Make balls out the dough, should fit inside your fist
- Cover dough balls and let rest for about 2 mintues. Start heating a flat skillet or pan on medium/high heat.
- Roll out a tortilla on a floured surface, it should a little see through, then place torilla on the hot pan to cook. cook each side for about 1-2 minutes or until bubbles form. Take off pan and into a basket/towel to keep it from getting hard as it cools.
- Repeat the previous step until all dough balls are rolled and cooked
