Instructions

  1. Combine all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl
  2. Kneed in the shortening
  3. Add melting butter and water into the mix and use hands to combine until the dough comes together
  4. Kneed dough until all the flour is incorporated and there are no large lumps.
  5. Make balls out the dough, should fit inside your fist
  6. Cover dough balls and let rest for about 2 mintues. Start heating a flat skillet or pan on medium/high heat.
  7. Roll out a tortilla on a floured surface, it should a little see through, then place torilla on the hot pan to cook. cook each side for about 1-2 minutes or until bubbles form. Take off pan and into a basket/towel to keep it from getting hard as it cools.
  8. Repeat the previous step until all dough balls are rolled and cooked
